Uganda

uganda - sunshine and smiles

Enter into the heart of Africa for a month, explore a new culture and make a difference to a school-ful of kids. DUCK Uganda is an amazing opportunity to embrace the exotic and follow your dreams, on a slightly lower budget exped.

  • Dates:  16th August - 20th September (5 weeks)

  • Provisional Fundraising Target: £2100

  • 2017/18 Expedition Leader: Ellie Casey

The Trip:

DUCK Uganda works with East Africa Playgrounds, a charity which does what it says on the tin. Located in the heart of Uganda, this charity has an incredible impact providing local children with endless fun and smiles. On Project, mornings are spent building a playground for a local school - something visible and permanent to enhance the childhood of these kids. Afternoons are spent with the kids themselves, split between arts and play activities - leading games and getting stuck into craft, all under the supervision of the charity.

Weekends consist of exciting sports or activities such as kayaking, safari or bungeeing; the final travel week can be spent hiking in the local parks or touring the local cities. Whatever the team chooses, you can guarantee it’ll be full of sunshine and smiles.

ABOUT THE LEADER: Ellie casey

Hey everyone! I’m Ellie and I am a 2nd year Biologist at Cuths. Last summer I went to Uganda, spending 4 weeks building a playground for primary school children. We did lots of amazing activities during weekends like safari and white water rafting, then we spent a week travelling around this amazing country. I loved the Uganda project so much that I want to do it again this year, because it was so much fun and has new adventures each year. Alongside my degree and work with DUCK, I sing in my college chapel choir, and I am the social sec of aerobics society.
