Our Thailand expedition offers you the chance to work as part of a wildlife rescue team in an Elephant Sanctuary. Working with Wildlife Rescue Centre you will experience first hand the great work they do for these gentle animals. After three weeks volunteering you will have the chance to explore the local villages, and travelling around the amazing sites Thailand has to offer.
About the Leader:
Hey guys! I'm Beth, a second year Music student at Grey College and I'm so excited to say that I'll be leading the DUCK expedition to Thailand this summer! I've been pretty much in love with travelling since spending a month in Costa Rica in July 2015 where I completed a charity project. Since then, I've been desperate to travel again and complete further charity projects as I can honestly say they provide the most amazing and rewarding experiences!
When in Thailand, we will spend 2 weeks volunteering at an elephant sanctuary, assisting professional keepers with daily jobs such as washing the elephants, feeding them and walking them through the forest. We will then spend a further 2 weeks at a wildlife sanctuary, working with other rehabilitated animals such as bears and gibbons that have previously been mistreated and often kept as pets. Aside from taking part in this incredible charity project, you will have time to visit the local villages, beaches and national parks, participating in numerous activities such as night safaris, waterfall walks and shopping at the local markets. Furthermore, we will spend an additional week travelling around Thailand, fully immersing ourselves in this amazing country's beauty and culture.
