Nepal

For people looking for something a bit different, more challenging and very exciting. DUCK Nepal promises to be a cracker.

This project is in aid of mother and children art foundation

The work

You will get the opportunity to spend 2-3 weeks volunteering at a school for children severely affected by the devastating earthquake in 2015. The team will immerse themselves in a range of activities- from helping construct the school to teaching the children English, sports, helping with art projects and contributing to the development of the community projects. By joining in with local celebrations, the team will have the opportunity to get to know the children and their families beyond the school and experience the local culture

Travel opportunities

At the end of the trip, you get to spend a week ticking off a bucket-list experience- trekking in the Himalayas! The scenery in Nepal is truly phenomenal, and the country has a unique history and rich culture you'll never forget, especially after visiting the capital, Kathmandu.

Hi! I’m Megan, a second year Geographer and I’ll be leading Nepal, following such an amazing summer with DUCK this year in Cambodia. DUCK is partnering with Challenges Abroad on this project, supporting the valuable NGO the Futuresense Foundation which supports community development in many parts of the world. Our first three weeks will be spent immersed within Nepalese culture working within a school in the Kathmandu Valley, teaching the English, helping with sports and art and craft activities. What’s also is exciting is the projects new focus upon healthcare and sanitation as we will be helping to construct hand washing stations within the school we work in – crucial within a post-earthquake context. I’m particularly excited for the added challenge of the final week in Nepal: trekking in the Himalayas.
