#DUCKit 2018

DUCK WEEK 2018, or as it now is known, #DUCKit, is set to be an incredible week, with something for everyone!

The capstone of DUCK 2017-2018, where we will see some of Durham's toughest tackle this year's endurance challenges, send many of you hitch hiking across the world, make some more inter-college romance a reality, get down and boogie and so so much more, all for some wonderful causes supporting Durham, UK and around the world! You would be ducking mad to miss it!

A brand new, student fun run.. in your underwear! Sign up fee is only £5!
This event gives students a chance to receive a free pair of awesome underwear, run a mile around Durham in said underwear and silly costumes then have a party (with FREE beer) afterward. We believe that anyone can run a mile and anyone can look great in underwear, and its time people started believing it too!

Back by popular demand, #DUCKit brings you the chance to live out your Harry Potter dreams for a night in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Durham’s most ICONIC building- Durham Cathedrall
A night filled with food, entertainment from some of Durham’s biggest acts and more, this one is not to be missed!

Most importantly, we will be fundraising for 2 incredible charities:

  1. MovingOn Durham, which seeks to break the cycle of youth homelessness by providing advice, guidance and accommodation for Durham’s homeless community.
  2.  FoodCycle Durham - who collect surplus food from local businesses and then work with a mixture of Durham University students and local residents to provide nutritious meals to those in need. They will also be providing us with REFRESHMENTS on the night

This event is only for students with valid student IDs (this can be from ANY university not just Durham) owing to cathedral regulations. To sign up as a non-Durham student please email

Get a team of your closest 3+ friends (make sure you're close cause you might get into some tight situations together...) and hitchhike as far away from Durham as you can in 36 hours or less!!
Rules are simple:
- No cash of your own
- No vehicle of your own

TICKETS are 20 pounds with a minimum fundraising target of 50 pounds for your chosen charity!! As always, we recommend our very own Local Charities Fund if you're happy to give back to the local Durham community but the possibilities are endless!

After the success of last years ball, with tickets selling out in 10 minutes, we have once again collaborated with the Durham University Big Band to bring you a night of wonderful jazz, drinking, lovely food and dancing, all in the name of charity.

This year, the ball will be 1920s themed, so get ready to be transported back to a world of flappers, cigarette holders and the most glamorous of parties.

Make sure to grab your tickets now!

They have been a Durham phenomena this year, so of course we had to bring them back for a week that celebrates all things DUCK!

In a world of Tinder, Bumble, Grinder and Love Island, dating seemingly couldn't get any easier. Yet, what happened to a bit of good old fashioned dating? If you're bored of swiping right, awkward encounters on a night out and college incest then you are in for a real treat...

Our matchmakers will pair up groups of eligible bachelors and bachelorettes from different colleges to send on a group blind date.
Instead of awkward speed-dating, we give you booze, good food, a laugh with your mates & a chance to mingle with other college singles (as well as a few other surprises you’ll find out on the night!) What’s not to love?!

These College Swaps will be in aid of the Against Malaria Foundation, who are fighting malaria by funding nets and ensuring they are distributed and used. The most effective means of preventing malaria is sleeping under a mosquito net, and so every net really does matter. Costing only about £2 per net, this event, whilst being very fun, will also raise money for a very worthy cause that can make a massive difference on lives throughout the world.
