cambodia - a duck classic
Educate under-privileged children, provide clean water facilities to new villages, and travel the incredible sites of ancient Cambodia - this could be you this summer!
- Dates: 9th July - 20th August (6 weeks)
Provisional Fundraising Target: £2600
2017/18 Expedition Leader: Jen Howe
DUCK Cambodia works with Helping Hands, a community school based just outside of Siam Reap. The team will spend its time assisting in English classes (including for the teachers), leading sports and arts activities for the kids, and helping local teachers prepare their classes. Helping Hands has just relocated, and therefore the team will also be involved in developing the new site, improving and maintaining the school’s facilities. The charity is currently rapidly expanding, meaning its the perfect opportunity for DUCK 2018 to be able to accelerate and assist in this - it’s an amazing time to get involved!
New for 2018, DUCK will also be working on a Clean Water project, both making and distributing water filters among the local villages. Not only an opportunity to gain a unique insight into real life in Cambodia, this will have an obvious invaluable impact on public health.
Cambodia offers incredible travel opportunities, in and around Siam Reap as well as further afield - including, of course, the stunning Angkor Temples.

Hey guys! I’m Jen, a fourth year student at Castle studying Archaeology. I’ve recently come back from a year abroad in France and I enjoy going to Amnesty International and yoga when I have time to! I’ve been on the India and Kilimanjaro expeditions and both were amazing, so I’m really excited to get to travel with Duck again to Cambodia and be taking a team of you guys with me! We’ll be helping at a school and then we’ll work on a clean water project making it a really worthwhile trip. At the end, we’ll have an awesome time travelling to all the touristy spots like Angkor Wat and go to some incredible beaches!!
